Checklist for evaluating event locations online

Our event expert Margareta Ferreira has developed a checklist that decision-makers in the event industry can use to carry out a quick and clear evaluation of event locations. The document provides an overview of the most important points that responsible event planners should consider when selecting a location.

How can the checklist help you choose the right event location?
The well-structured checklist ensures that no decisive factors are overlooked when selecting the right event location for your event. It also helps to systematically check all relevant criteria such as capacity, location, technical equipment, accessibility, budget and sustainability aspects. This reduces risks, saves time and makes it possible to objectively compare different locations.

The 5 most convincing reasons for using our checklist:

  • Error avoidance: Important details such as transport connections, parking facilities, hotel capacities or technical equipment are not forgotten
  • Efficiency: Saves time through clear prioritization and fast decision-making
  • Transparency: everyone in the project has the same basis for evaluation
  • Budget control: Helps to identify hidden costs at an early stage
  • Professionalism: Conveys competence to customers and partners

30 years of LK in the Grand Hall Zollverein - an anniversary full of emotion and commitment

On July 4, 2025, our owner celebrated its 30th anniversary together with over 500 guests - and of course in the magnificent setting of industrial culture.

Our founders and owners Tom Koperek and Sven Robusch welcomed friends, customers, partners, companions and employees to an unforgettable evening. The Mayor of Essen, Thomas Kufen, opened the event with a warm welcome.

TV comedian Markus Krebs then made the room laugh with his typical Ruhrpott humor. The Dutch band Popgunn provided the musical prelude with an energetic live set. And anyone who thought that was it was wrong: in the club area, people danced to the beats of DJ Phil Fuldner until the early hours of the morning.

Sven Robusch and Tom Koperek were really keen to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald Foundation, which runs a temporary home for seriously ill children and their families in the Gruga. Together with all the guests, over 10,000 euros were collected - a fantastic result! The two say a heartfelt "thank you" for the generosity of all donors!

30 years of LK - that's 30 years full of ideas, projects, encounters and success stories. This anniversary was celebrated in style, with fun and an open heart for a good cause.

LK Group celebrates its 30th anniversary in the Zollverein Grand Hall

LK Management & Beteiligungs GmbH, formerly LK Aktiengesellschaft, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the renowned Essen-based company is inviting guests to a festive anniversary event on July 4, 2025 at 7 p.m. in the Zollverein Grand Hall - a location with industrial culture and symbolic power that perfectly matches the history and future of the company.

Over 500 guests from the event industry are expected to attend, including long-standing customers, partners, service providers, employees and family & friends of the company. The event is all about saying thank you, meeting people and looking ahead to the coming years.

A special highlight of the evening: Essen's Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen will be there in person to address the company and its guests. In addition, the nationally renowned cabaret artist, author and customer of the first hour, Thomas Freitag, will attend the gala and thus express his decades of solidarity with the LK Group.

As a humorous highlight of the evening, a real Ruhr area original will also be performing: Comedian Markus Krebs will provide the best entertainment with his unmistakable style - direct, heartfelt and typically Ruhrpott.

And it has its bright light at night...

The Ruhrkohle Choir cultivates miners’ songs and is a regular guest in the Grand Hall.

Founded with the aim of cultivating miners' songs and preserving mining culture, the choir soon developed its own dynamic, which increasingly gave it a role as a musical ambassador for German mining and miners.

The Ruhrkohle Choir was founded in 1987. After several eventful years, the Ruhrkohle Choir can look back on many successes: Numerous professional CDs and video productions, as well as concert tours and television appearances, document the choir's extraordinary musical output.

In addition to miners' songs, the choir also performs other songs, from religious melodies to melodies from opera, operetta, musicals, folklore from around the world, and even modern pop songs. This results in an unusually diverse and extensive repertoire of over 300 songs.

And because the Ruhrkohle Choir is an intangible cultural asset of the Ruhr area that always gives you goosebumps, it is a frequent and welcome guest at our events.

      CULINARY GREEN

Our partner Kirberg Catering regularly and sustainably sets new impulses.

The joy of good food, unusual ideas and outstanding culinary artistry - this is what Kirberg Catering has stood for since 1982. The multi-award-winning event caterer is one of the most creative in Germany and regularly sets new trends in the industry.

Kirberg is now bundling its sustainable commitment under the motto CULINARY GREEN - certified by the Economy for the Common Good (GWÖ).

Kirberg's attitude "Unestablished since 1982" also applies to CULINARY GREEN. Guests should see, smell, taste and rediscover. They should be surprised by enjoyment that is presented in a new way. Trendy vegan and plant-based catering concepts can be the new normal. Vegan dishes have long since ceased to be token dishes in upmarket, creative cuisine and are now often the highlight of the culinary offering. This could be a sophisticated vegetable ham or a lacquered cauliflower.

Good, sustainable food always begins with seasonality and the origin of the ingredients used. Seasonality makes cooking exciting. Kirberg's chefs don't work against it, but rather with it – with the diversity of vegetables, herbs, and fruits that the different seasons bring. This unleashes creativity.

The focus is on freshness, quality and regional ingredients - supported by the Kirberg Field Initiative, which strengthens cooperation with local producers. This gave rise to the idea of growing old vegetable varieties again, whose original taste inspires the Kirberg chefs to create new dishes. CULINARY GREEN makes climate-friendly events possible - without sacrificing culinary highlights. Specific concepts are developed together with the customer to suit their needs.

CULINARY GREEN is the result of the GWÖ certification - an intensive, holistic process that examines not only ecological, but also social and ethical aspects of the company. The external audit makes the commitment measurable and transparent.

This process also shows that sustainable action is often not easy, that it is sometimes contradictory, that it requires consideration and a struggle for the better solution. It shows that sustainability requires staying power. And that is exactly what Kirberg has had - for over 40 years.

"When we started the workshops on the Economy for the Common Good, we didn't realize how many positive aspects of sustainability and the common good were already being implemented at Kirberg Catering. And we also didn't realize how far we still had to go. We haven't reached our goal, but we are on our way: Kirberg is becoming greener and greener."
