Grand Hall News

And it has its bright light at night...

The Ruhrkohle Choir cultivates miners’ songs and is a regular guest in the Grand Hall.

Founded with the aim of cultivating miners' songs and preserving mining culture, the choir soon developed its own dynamic, which increasingly gave it a role as a musical ambassador for German mining and miners.

The Ruhrkohle Choir was founded in 1987. After several eventful years, the Ruhrkohle Choir can look back on many successes: Numerous professional CDs and video productions, as well as concert tours and television appearances, document the choir's extraordinary musical output.

In addition to miners' songs, the choir also performs other songs, from religious melodies to melodies from opera, operetta, musicals, folklore from around the world, and even modern pop songs. This results in an unusually diverse and extensive repertoire of over 300 songs.

And because the Ruhrkohle Choir is an intangible cultural asset of the Ruhr area that always gives you goosebumps, it is a frequent and welcome guest at our events.
